Description
During the early years of the 20th century, tobacco companies used an advertising campaign of including a baseball card in with their tobacco products, cashing in on the rising popularity of America's pastime - baseball. This 1913 image is from Fatima cigarettes, offering another gem to card collectors. Casey Stengel was on the team, but the manufacturers spelled his last name incorrectly. The Brooklyn Dodgers were part of the National league at the time. Because the image is over 100 years old and fragile, there will be some discoloration and other marks on the image, as can be seen when the image is enlarged, but nothing that will take away from this historic view of a team which has existed from 1884 until 1957, when the team moved to Los Angeles and became the Los Angeles Dodgers.
