Description
On a late autumn day, when the weather was rainy and windy, this female northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) sat determinedly in the briars. She seemed to not mind the miserable weather and later she flew out to hunt for food, then came back and perched for a while longer. Northern cardinals are year round visitors in the eastern half of the US. Image has been given a slight painterly finish. Taken in the upstate of South Carolina.
