Description
A Cayuga duck rests on a boulder in the South Saluda River in South Carolina. Cayuga ducks are named for the town in New York where they were first bred, although much of the origins of the breed are not known. The duck will have a green iridescence in bright sunlight, and will grow white feathers as it ages. Female Cayugas lay black eggs, which gradually turn a softer gray color as the duck matures. Popular as a pet, Cayuga ducks are well known in the US.
