Description
A male northern cardinal (cardinalis cardinalis) has left his perch on the wooden fence and heads toward the feeder. The abelia and forsythia shrubs in the background make a beautiful backdrop for his bright red feathers. A non-migrating bird, cardinals are seen mainly in the United States from the mid west to the east coast and down in Mexico, and into a small area of Canada.
