Description
The rose breasted grosbeak (pheucticus ludovicianus) is a migratory bird in the southern United States, heading for the mostly northern part of the country, and up into Canada. They also nest in the Appalachian mountains which stretch down into North Carolina and the very corner of the north western section of South Carolina. The males have a gorgeous red breast, a little different on each bird, and they begin to show up at feeders in mid-April. They leave early in October to head back to Central and South America to spend the winter.
