Description
Perky and saucy, Carolina wrens (thryothorus ludovicianus) will make their presence known to all, and will call and sing throughout the year. This fellow perched himself right beside the old metal bird cutout on the pole and sang on and on while early morning sunlight through the trees brightened his feathers. Carolina wrens are found in the eastern half of the US, and they are non-migratory. They love to nest around humans, using anything from hanging plants or a basket on a bench, even an old shoe nailed to a tree! They bob up and down, and can rarely keep still. A constant guest at a bird feeder, they enjoy almost any food which is offered. Image captured in Greenville County, South Carolina, and is presented in a square format.
