Description
This female summer tanager (Piranga rubra) loves catching bees and wasps to eat. They breed in the US during spring and summer then migrate to Central and South America in the fall and winter. The male of the species is the only completely red bird in the US. Since they are insect eaters, they usually do not come to feeders but will visit a bird bath with water. Taken in South Carolina, and in a square format.
